Capadocia (tierra de caballos hermosos, en persa) es un viaje a tiempos remotos. A m\u00e1s de 750 km de Estambul, Turqu\u00eda, es famosa\u00a0 en el mundo por sus vuelos en globos aerost\u00e1ticos, que permiten apreciar, desde las alturas, las \u201cchimeneas de hadas\u201d -de formaciones de roca-, las casas de la Edad de Bronce y el Ca\u00f1\u00f3n de Ihlara.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ese paisaje curioso surge de la actividad volc\u00e1nica que se registr\u00f3 hace 60 millones de a\u00f1os y cuya ceniza solidificada form\u00f3 la roca blanca y maleable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La mayor\u00eda de los visitantes llegan a Capadocia para hacer ese vuelo maravilloso y para contemplar esas vistas. No tuvimos suerte en esa ocasi\u00f3n porque nuestro vuelo fue cancelado por cuestiones clim\u00e1ticas. As\u00ed que improvisamos un plan B y emprendimos un safari antes del amanecer para ver  los globos volar. Si el espect\u00e1culo desde arriba es tan maravilloso como cuentan, desde abajo tambi\u00e9n es sublime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M\u00e1s tarde recorrimos las Chimeneas de Hadas, que merecen un cap\u00edtulo entero en cualquier cuaderno de viaje. Son unas curiosas y caprichosas formaciones producto de la erosi\u00f3n de miles de a\u00f1os en las que se adivinan conos, setas, columnas y una roca de mayor consistencia en su punto m\u00e1s alto. Se reparten en varios valles, como el del Amor y el Rojo, y algunas tienen m\u00e1s de 40 metros de alto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tambi\u00e9n sirvieron de abrigo y vivienda a antiguos pueblos de la regi\u00f3n (trogloditas). Nos contaban los gu\u00edas que esas monta\u00f1as son f\u00e1ciles  de trabajar, y por eso se han convertido a lo largo de los siglos en  casas-cuevas. Se pueden visitar algunas que fueron refugio de los primeros cristianos de la zona. En estos recintos tambi\u00e9n vivieron hititas, griegos, bizantinos y turcos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Todo es sorprendente en Capadocia. Hoy, en esta zona se han contabilizado m\u00e1s de 600 iglesias rupestres excavadas en las rocas, algunas con obras de arte bizantino que relatan pasajes b\u00edblicos. Muchas est\u00e1n en excelente estado de conservaci\u00f3n. Para nosotros la m\u00e1s impresionante dentro de una de las cuevas fue imagen en colores de San Jorge en su caballo alado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
